Re: The death penalty pro or con
if a killer actually ENJOYS killing, gets some kind of a sexual or ethical thrill in the act, why should he be allowed to live? like dogslife said, he will continue to reoffend if allowed. ted bundy had FAR too much pleasure in his life...i don't know anyone who isn't glad that he was taken out. i certainly am. |

I am for the death penalty and resent the fact it takes so many years and appeals, before anything is done. I feel the killer deserves to die in the same manner of the victim. |

does it matter? if we are to compare philippine prisons to yours there in north america, i'd say a criminal would choose the death penalty over living in our prison cells. but that is not the topic rather - will you still a hard core criminal or a psychopath serial killer live or die?

Eye for an Eye. No if's No but's. You commit the crime, you should die. If you killed a person by hand gun, knife, ax, or whatever. You should die in the same method. Preferably by the hands of the victim's family if they want to. I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger. |

Re: Re: The death penalty pro or con
Locally, if there ever was a creature who deserved the death penalty, it was Edwin Hall who just this week was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the abduction/rape/sodomy/murder of a beautiful young girl named Kelsey Smith. Last June 2, this very petite, popular girl with an amazing smile who had just graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School, went to Target to purchase a graduation gift for a friend. But Edwin Hall saw her and decided she would never make it to her friend's party because he wanted her for himself. He stalked her like a lion spotting its prey and pounced when she went to put her purchases in her car. The parking lot video showed a very intense struggle by her car and that was the last image ever seen of that vibrant young girl. He forced her into her own car, took her across the state line to a secluded area of Longview Lake Park, raped her, sodomized her, and strangled her, leaving her body in a pile of leaves just off a bike/hike trail. He then drove her car back to the shopping mall adjacent to the Target store he'd taken her from and left it there. The police knew the general area in which the last signal from her cellphone (when her family/friends were desperately trying to call her until the battery died) was emitted around 8pm on that beautiful, sunny, warm Saturday evening. They discovered her body that following Tuesday. Almost a year later, the piece of crap, Hall, who had been arrested within a short time of Kelsey's murder, plea-bargained to get the death penalty taken off table. So now, we the tax-payers of Kansas, get to pay for him to get 3 meals a day, heat, electricity, cable TV, workout facilities, and even an education if he wants it--for however long that monster lives. Every breath he takes is one more that Kelsey will never take again; every time a friend or family member visits him in prison will be another time that Kelsey's family/friends won't get to see her. Every workout, every book he reads, every meal he eats... Kelsey won't get that again. So yes, for the SMALL percent of truly "innocent" people on death row, it's worth it to get the majority of death row inmates who are MONSTERS like Hall off this earth to keep the death penalty. And make it painful, humiliating, and public. No more of this lethal injection stuff; why should a monster be given the same kind, gentle death as a beloved pet gets at the end of its life?
This man does not deserve to live and he should die. Why didn't he receive the death penalty. He knew what he was doing. |

yes it does... if you decide not to have a death penalty... that is ok.... but why take the position of codling to a criminal... would that increase their chance of being reformed? also your system is more price efficient, and offers a higher level of safety for the staff! |

Re: Re: The death penalty pro or con
I am 100% FOR the death penalty, however, I disagree with you on one point. I do NOT believe they should die in exactly the same manner as their victim. When I lived in Washington state there was a child murderer that was sentenced to death. I cannot recall his name at the moment, I want to say Wesley Allen Dodd, but I might be confusing my killers.Anyway, he kidnapped, tortured and repeatedly raped young boys.He brutally raped and tortured and eventually HUNG this sweet, innocent 6 y/o boy to his death. When the time came for this cold and callous, sick fucker to die- he was actually given a choice! Death by lethal injection...OR....death by hanging! Now....why did HE get a damn choice? Also....were the powers that be so damn stupid as to realize why he made the choice of death that he eventually did? You got it! He requested death by hanging! I was infuriated! In my mind and in my heart, I believed this sick fuck to get one last final thrill by being killed in exactly the same fashion that he had done to that poor ,innocent child! I guarantee you...his dick was hard as a rock at the thought he would be feeling exactly what his VICTIM felt! Unfortunately, no one raped him repeatedly anally or tortured him before his death by hanging. NO! He was fed his "last meal".Given anything he wanted before he was to be killed. Was able to consult and pray with a member of the clergy. He was able to absolve himself- although if I recall, he never apologized once for what he had done. What was this poor child able to do right before his life was extinguished? I say...don't give the mother fuckers a choice at how THEY want THEIR lives to be extinguished! They show no mercy on or to their victims, why should we show them any? I will be the first in line when the call is made for volunteers to administer that lethal dose...or throw that switch. Eye for an Eye. No if's No but's. You commit the crime, you should die. If you killed a person by hand gun, knife, ax, or whatever. You should die in the same method. Preferably by the hands of the victim's family if they want to. I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

Re: The death penalty pro or con
As long as they don't walk out alive - I can careless how they are taken out.
In the 37 states and federal government that currently have death penalty statutes, five different methods of execution are prescribed: Lethal Injection, Electrocution, Lethal Gas, Firing Squad, and Hanging. The vast majority of jurisdictions provide for execution by lethal injection. 20 jurisdictions provide for alternative methods of execution, contingent upon the choice of the inmate, the date of the execution or sentence, or the possibility of the method being held unconstitutional. Only one state does not have lethal injection as a primary or optional method of execution. Nebraska is the only state that provides for electrocution as the sole method of execution. No states provide for Lethal Gas, Hanging, or Firing Squad as the sole method of execution. Alabama - If execution is after 07-01-02, inmate may choose electrocution, otherwise lethal injection. Arizona - If committed before 11-23-92, inmate shall elect lethal injection or lethal gas. If no election made, then lethal injection. California - Inmate may elect lethal injection or lethal gas. If no election, then Lethal Injection. If one method invalid, then the other method. Delaware - Lethal Injection. If lethal injection held unconstitutional, then hanging. Florida - Lethal injection unless inmate elects electrocution. If lethal injection or electrocution held unconstitutional, then any legal method. Georgia - If committed after May 1, 2000 lethal injection. If before, electrocution. If electrocution held unconstitutional, then lethal injection. In 2001, Georgia Supreme Court held electrocution, as prescribed by statute for murders before 1999, unconstitutional. Idaho - Lethal injection. If impractical due to lack of “technical assistance,” then firing squad. Illinois - Lethal Injection. If lethal injection held unconstitutional, then electrocution. Kentucky - Lethal injection, unless inmate was sentenced before 03-31-98 and chooses electrocution. Missouri - Lethal injection or lethal gas. (Unknown who decides) New Hampshire - Lethal Injection. If “impractical, then hanging. Ohio - Lethal Injection - If lethal injection held unconstitutional, then any subsequently prescribed legal method. Oklahoma - If lethal injection held unconstitutional, then electrocution. If electrocution held unconstitutional, then firing squad. South Carolina - Lethal injection, unless inmate elects electrocution. If Lethal Injection held unconstitutional, then electrocution. Tennessee - On or after 01-01-99, then lethal injection. Before 01-01-99, then electrocution, unless inmate elects lethal injection. If lethal injection or electrocution,l then any constitutional method. Utah - Lethal injection. If court holds that defendant has right to firing squad choice under prior law, then firing squad. If lethal injection held unconstitutional, then firing squad. Virginia - Lethal injection or electrocution chosen by inmate. If no choice made, then Lethal Injection. Washington - Lethal injection, unless inmate elects hanging. Wyoming - If lethal injection held unconstitutional, then lethal gas. Federal Government - Lethal Injection is general method pursuant to 28 CFR, Part 26. However, under the Violent Crime Control Act of 1994, the method is that of state in which the conviction took place, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. 3596. |

Yeah, and he knew he would be convicted because of the security tapes from Target (including the one showing Kelsey fighting him in the parking lot as he forced her into her car) and DNA at the murder scene where he raped and sodomized her. And I believe the way the Kansas death penalty law is, if they plead guilty the death penalty is not an option. I wish the judge hadn't accepted the plea bargain--which is his right.
